In Project Parallel, you play as an interdimensional vigilante who must stop an evil organization from destroying the multiverse while also dealing with the trauma of losing her family. The game is a 3D platformer set in a solarpunk world and a cyberpunk world which the player travels between instantly. Over the course of the game, players will feel like a superhero as they progress through agility-based puzzles across alternate dimensions and reflect on their relationships as they discover artifacts of Nohla’s past.​ ​

This game arose from feelings of instability. In my next to last year of grad school I faced uncomfortable changes in my relationships with friends and family alongside the reality that soon I would be graduating into a world teetering on the edge of environmental devastation and political unrest. At the same time, I began to truly realize that my life was only mine to control--though it didn't feel that way due to the upheaval around me. Dealing with such a chaotic cocktail of emotions all centered on the inevitability of change, the nebulous nature of control, and the uncertainty of outcomes drew me to the multiverse theory. I began imagining the positive and negative potentials of the future of my family, the world, and myself as separate universes, each with clear resolutions. Thus over a semseter of coping through various narrative iterations and prototypes Project Parallel, a game about a woman with emotional scars and uncertainty that don't stop her from being powerful and in control over her destiny, was born. With the concept solidified I continued to work on the game with a small group over the summer. At the start of my last year of grad school, recruitment began in earnest and I was able to amass one of the largest teams in my cohort. It's difficult to truly express the gratitude I felt, and still feel, that this highly personal project resonated with so many people.​
